Nature

What follows is our 2025 end of year appeal letter. You can give today at www.breadandbelonging.org/give. Thank you!

Dear Friend of Bread+Belonging,

During this season of giving, your generosity can make a difference in the lives of students at the University of Colorado, connecting them in a beloved community and fostering space for emerging leaders.

Growing up in the Colorado mountains, Zoe has always loved the outdoors. When she visited the University of Colorado in Boulder, she knew it was where she wanted to go. Now a sophomore, she is a double major in psychology and religious studies. “I was worried it was going to be too big at first,” she said, “but it doesn’t feel so big, I think, because we are so close to nature. It doesn’t feel overwhelming, and you can find your own people.”

A couple of weeks into her first semester, Zoe wanted to find a church near campus, but knew she was too shy to go on her own. With her mom’s help, she found St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, and they visited together. They learned about the Bread+Belonging student dinner, and with her mother’s encouragement, Zoe came for dinner the following Tuesday. “It was the environment that kept me coming back,” Zoe explains, “I’m not extroverted, but I have been able to meet people through Bread+Belonging. It felt very welcoming and there’s a good sense of gratitude as well.” Since that first dinner, Zoe has come to Bread+Belonging regularly. She has gotten to know more people in the community, and this year is an active member of the student leadership team. She serves as a student representative on the board of directors and helps plan and lead events for fellow students. As a leader, Zoe is enjoying getting the word out on campus and welcoming newcomers, sharing the gift of beloved community that she has found at Bread+Belonging.

As we prepare for a new semester, we invite you to consider a gift of $50, $100, $500, or even $1,000 or more. Your generosity to Bread+Belonging ensures that college students in Boulder have a welcoming space to call home as they navigate the joys, challenges, and everyday concerns of life on campus. Thank you for your support for our ministry with students!

In gratitude,
The Rev. Monica Butler, Campus Chaplain
